Our History
Allevia Kensington Hospital has proudly served the Northland community since 2001, when we opened with three operating theatres and a 19-bed Inpatient Suite. Today, we’ve grown to five operating theatres and a 21-bed Inpatient Suite — with plans for continued expansion to meet the evolving needs of our region.
We are proud of our local heritage and remain committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care for the people of Northland, with access to trusted services close to home.
Company Structure
Allevia Kensington Hospital is independently run, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional care for our local community.
Ownership is shared between local surgeons and business supporters (40%) and Allevia Health (60%) — a New Zealand-based company with interests in a wide range of health-related businesses across the country.
This structure gives us the best of both worlds: strong local leadership and insight, combined with the expertise and resources of a wider healthcare group.
Our board reflects this balance, with four local directors (including two medical specialists) and two representatives from Allevia Health.
